I create a buffer between the reviewer and the author, or the bookstore owner and the book writer, wherever a ilttle distance helps make a contact go more smoothly, and to make problems less personal and more business-related. How you feel is legitimate, so I'm not going to try to persuade you otherwise, but I will say that although there are "bad" publishers (I'm mostly referring to those who have no knowledge of the industry and do not have their authors best interests at heart), I (and many others) have a great deal of respect for what you, and others like you, do. We can't all walk the same path, and what works for one person won't for the next, but it shouldn't come down to either/or - one side against the other. In saying that, people sometimes talk in a general way without considering the wider impact their words have.
