Book Review: Emissary

Emissary is a poignant and artfully crafted science fiction story that examines what it means to be human and the nature of free will. Author Chris Rogers paints a vibrant tale of loss, hope, struggle, and finding redemption where you least expect it.

Ruell is an emissary, trained to merge his consciousness with a human host in the hopes of convincing humanity to offer his people sanctuary after their own planet was destroyed. He first merges with the president of the United States. But when that situation takes a turn for the worst he finds himself merged with an alcoholic cop named Kirk Longshadow. This is where the plot really takes off as the developing relationship between Ruell and Kirk is the best part of the story.
